How to Choose Your Furnace Replacement

How to Choose Your Furnace Replacement

It might be a strange question to ask in the middle of summer, but is your home’s furnace ready for winter? If your furnace is nearing the end of its useful life, costing you a fortune to heat your home, or struggled with one repair after another last winter, it could be time for a new furnace. Like most homeowners, you might be perplexed about how to go about choosing a furnace replacement. A-1 Heating offers the following suggestions on how to choose a furnace. Call us today for a consultation.

Introducing Daikin Furnaces

A-1 Heating  recommends choosing a Daikin furnace. Daikin furnaces are high-efficiency gas furnaces that help save you money on your heating costs because they use less energy. These furnaces are known for their reliability and are backed with a 12-year warranty, which is longer than most other manufacturers’ warranties. They feature European design, Japanese technology, and trust North American workmanship. You and your family can rest assured that your furnace will keep your home safe and warm throughout the frigid winter nights here in St Albert.

Choosing the Right Daikin Furnace for You

There are a few factors to consider when choosing the right Daikin furnace replacement for your home: efficiency, size, and your budget. Daikin’s four models range from 92 to 97% AFUE. When shopping furnaces, you will quickly note that the higher the annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) rating the more expensive the furnace is. But what this means is you begin saving more energy from Day 1 that helps you realize your return on investment (ROI) all that much sooner.

The size of your home will also help determine which of the four Daikin furnace models are best to efficiently heat your home. Depending on the furnace model, different blower types and gas valve types also play a factor in how energy efficient it will be.

For example, the three higher AFUE rated models, DM96VE and DM96VC are 96% AFUE, have two-stage gas valves, and feature multi and variable-speed blowers, respectively. These features adjust according to the amount of heat needed to ensure that less energy is wasted. The most energy-efficient model is the DM97MC, which has a 97% AFUE-rated, variable-speed blower, and a modulating gas valve for the greatest efficiency. There is also the 92% AFUE-rated DM92SS model with a multi-speed blower and single-stage gas valve, which is still considered very energy-efficient and ideal for a smaller home or budget.

Affordability of Purchasing a New Furnace

The rule of thumb when choosing a furnace replacement is to go with the highest AFUE model that you can afford. With financing options and programs through Energy Efficiency Alberta’s Home Energy Plan program, you will see just how affordable a new furnace can be.
